Amphiphilic Block Copolymer Nano-micelles: Effect of Length Ratio of the Hydrophilic Block
Block copolymer nano-micelles are especially important in cancer treatment because of their fine dimensions. In this article, three systems of amphiphilic copolymers with similar lengths and different ratios of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic chains are studied using implicit-solvent coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. The factor fphil is defined as the ratio of the number...
متن کاملNon-native three-dimensional block copolymer morphologies
Self-assembly is a powerful paradigm, wherein molecules spontaneously form ordered phases exhibiting well-defined nanoscale periodicity and shapes. However, the inherent energy-minimization aspect of self-assembly yields a very limited set of morphologies, such as lamellae or hexagonally packed cylinders. Here, we show how soft self-assembling materials-block copolymer thin films-can be manipul...
متن کاملFreezing-induced ordering of block copolymer micelles.
We demonstrate here the ordering of block copolymer micelles by ice templating, below 0 °C. We used this for the preparation of silica monoliths that present an ice-templated macroporosity, combined with a 2D hexagonal mesostructure templated by the addition of P123. We propose a mechanism triggered by the progressive freezing-induced concentration.
متن کاملNanoparticle surfactants as a route to bicontinuous block copolymer morphologies.
The surface chemistry of nanoparticles can be modified so that these particles behave like surfactants and localize at interfaces between two fluids. We demonstrate that small volume fractions phi(P) of such surfactant nanoparticles added to lamellar diblock copolymers lead initially to a decrease in lamellar thickness with phi(P), a consequence of decreasing interfacial tension, up to a critic...
متن کاملRectangular symmetry morphologies in a topographically templated block copolymer.
Using an array of majority-block-functionalized posts makes it possible to locally control the self-assembly of a block copolymer and achieve several morphologies on a single substrate. A template consisting of a square symmetry array of posts produces a square-symmetry lattice of microdomains, which doubles the areal density of features.
